300 nautical miles as crew

At least 2 passages over 60 miles each as skipper

Yacht Construction

  • Name yacht parts and main rigging elements
  • Understand hull, keel, rudder and propeller function
  • Know engine cooling system operations
  • Understand bilge pump operation
  • Know electrical installation purposes

Sail Operations

  • Hoist, trim, reef and lower sails
  • Properly secure halyards and sheets
  • Adjust sail configurations for conditions

Mooring & Anchoring

  • Tie and use required knots
  • Operate mooring lines safely
  • Position and secure fenders properly
  • Prepare and deploy anchor systems
  • Use different anchoring methods

Safety Procedures

  • Execute man-overboard procedures
  • Locate and use safety equipment
  • Operate VHF radio in emergencies
  • Implement emergency protocols

Navigation Rules

  • Identify navigation lights and day shapes
  • Apply right of way rules
  • Use signals and sound signals at sea
  • Understand collision prevention

Meteorology

  • Read local weather patterns
  • Interpret weather forecasts
  • Understand simple weather maps
  • Plan for weather changes
