Anguilla
Long, flat, and quiet — thirty-three beaches, six offshore cays, and the best beach restaurants in the Caribbean.
From Antigua
95 nautical miles north · overnight passage, or two-day stop on a St. Martin week
Best time to sail
December through May. Anguilla shuts down quietly in September-October — most restaurants close. Peak weather is February-April.
Anguilla is the kind of island that hides in plain sight. Sixteen miles long, three miles wide, and remote enough that most charter guests reach it by tender from St. Martin or by sailing direct from Antigua. The reason to come is the beaches: Shoal Bay, Meads Bay, Rendezvous Bay, Maundays Bay — all white sand, all empty by Caribbean standards, all walkable.
We include Anguilla on every St. Martin week charter as a two-night leg. Customs clearance at Road Bay (Sandy Ground) is straightforward; the anchorage is sheltered, and the town is a five-minute tender ride. From there, day-tripping by yacht around the offshore cays — Prickly Pear, Sandy Island, Scilly Cay — is the standard charter pattern.
The food is famous for a reason. Veya, Blanchard's, Hibernia, da'Vida — half a dozen restaurants that would headline any island twice the size. Beach bars on the cays serve fresh-caught lobster cooked over coconut husks. We arrange dinner reservations and tender drops.
Anchorages
Road Bay / Sandy Ground
Customs anchorage and the main town beach. Anchor off in 12 ft; tender to the dock for clearance, restaurants, and the supermarket. Sheltered from the trades.
Crocus Bay
Quieter alternative to Road Bay, with the cliff-side da'Vida restaurant ashore. Walking trail down the cliff to the beach — best lunch view on the island.
Prickly Pear Cay
Uninhabited island three miles north of Road Bay. Two beach bars, no roads. Anchor in 10 ft of sand and walk ashore.
Sandy Island
Tiny sand cay with one bar and no buildings, just north of Sandy Ground. The most photographed lunch stop in the Caribbean.
Ashore
Shoal Bay East
Two miles of unbroken white sand on the north-east coast. Walk the length and stop at Gwen's Reggae Grill for a fish sandwich.
Veya
Tree-house restaurant in the bush above Sandy Ground. The kind of dinner guests still talk about a year later. Reservations weeks ahead.
Sandy Island Bar
Lunch on a sand cay — grilled lobster, rum punch, and one umbrella per table. Tender from Road Bay or arrive by yacht.
