May – AugustIce Season
The pack ice, under the midnight sun.
North along the west coast of Spitsbergen to the edge of the Arctic pack ice — glacier fronts calving into black water, walrus haul-outs, polar bears on the floes, and a sun that never sets on any of it.
- Sail to the ice edge, as far north as ice and weather allow
- Glacier-front anchorages and Arctic fjords
- Polar bears, walrus and whales on their own terms
- 24-hour daylight — the ship never really sleeps
- Full ice curriculum, stood on watch with the skippers
